Orchestration of the popular piece “nebbi’ a la valle” by: Anna Troisi.
This is an Abruzzese song about the sad abandonment of the land by the farmers, also known in other versions (“Cade l’ulivo,” “Nebbia alla valle”), although modified by Modugno with the title “Amara terra mia.” It remains one of the most beautiful songs related to the phenomenon of transhumance. (Maria Rollero)
..::Electroshop::.. is an open working group composed of performers, composers, and artistic collaborators from around the world. It functions as both a workshop and a fluid, live collective where the creation of sonic artworks—the “concrete” musical instruments—intersects with the process of composing scores. This approach establishes a unique, one-to-one relationship between each instrument and its corresponding music, ensuring that the composition aligns with the concept of a “unique work of art.”
Each sonic piece serves both as an artwork and a musical instrument, specifically designed and crafted to realize the musical score. These pieces are autonomous, possessing intrinsic artistic purpose, whether in performance or in silence. They take the form of mechanical, electroacoustic, and photoelectric sculptures, fully functional as musical instruments for both acoustic and electroacoustic applications.
..::Electroshop::..‘s original compositions can also act as frameworks for open scores, guiding performers while allowing for controlled improvisation within predetermined structural modules. During the development and rehearsal process, musicians are encouraged to experiment with pre-existing sound material played through audio sequencing software. Real-time audio processing is achieved through the combined use of plug-ins (e.g., reverb, delay, filters, pitch shifting, spectral transformation) and custom-built Max/MSP patches. The integration of live electronics and real-time modifiable parameters is carefully notated, allowing performative actions on the sonic sculptures to shape musical events fixed in the score.
These sonic objects are fully realized only through the music composed for and with them, forming a “sounding pieces shop.” This concept involves promoting and selling original and unique works—each a combination of sonic sculptures and musical compositions—through a public auction. This ensures the singularity of each performance: once a piece (the sonic artwork) is sold, the corresponding musical composition can no longer be performed unless ..::Electroshop::.. temporarily reacquires the instrument from the buyer.
Performance serves as the final stage of the production process, culminating in the ..::Electroshop::.. live exhibition, where sonic artworks are auctioned to the highest bidder.
